How Squaredle Express works
Squaredle Express trims the board from 4×4 to 3×3 while keeping the core path rules. Trace touching letters horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, use each tile at most once per word, and find every Required word to complete the round.
Keep the pace
Finish the daily Express puzzle and continue into another 3×3 replay board without waiting for the next day.
Keep Bonus words
Extra recognized words are recorded as Bonus even when they are not part of the smaller Required completion set.
Nine tiles change the search
Squaredle Express strategy for a 3×3 board
Express keeps the same movement rules, but the 3×3 geometry changes which tiles are most flexible. The single center tile touches all eight other positions, each edge tile touches five, and each corner touches three. That makes center-connected letter clusters especially useful when you are looking for longer paths.
Use the center as a hub
The middle tile has eight neighbors, so paths through it have the most options for changing direction or extending a word.
Work the edges next
Non-corner edge tiles still connect to five positions and often bridge a corner back toward the center.
Treat corners as endpoints
Corners have only three neighbors, so they are often easier to test as the beginning or end of a path than as its middle.
Nine tiles instead of sixteen
Squaredle Express vs the standard 4×4 game
The main difference is board size, not movement. Express has nine tiles, so there are fewer starting points and typically shorter solving sessions. The standard Daily and Unlimited modes use sixteen tiles, leaving more room for long paths and larger answer sets.
